WP2: EXPLORING THE CRISIS NOTEBOOK

Objectives:
- Increase knowledge about local sustainability policies;
- Sustainable mobility and the sustainability of rivers as a response to the environmental crisis;
- The economic crisis and the environment post Covid 19;
- Learning about the effects of COVID19 and climate change in the European society;
- Planning the development of the project in the next meetings in the different partner countries.
Description Of The Activities Taken Place:
Arrival of Participants from each partner delegation.
Welcoming dinner.
Day 2 | 29/11/2022
The first session was held, with all the participants, in the main hall of the Municipality of Amarante.
Firstly, the President of the City Council gave a welcoming speech to all those present, with special attention to partners from partner countries in this GREENEU project.
Afterwards, the Councilor responsible for Youth and the technicians assigned to the project also welcomed all the participants, starting the work session with a summary of the activities that would take place over the two days of work.
A set of gifts was delivered by the Mayor and the councilor to participants from GREENEU’s partner countries.The first intervention was on Tourism and Sustainability, giving the example of the city of Amarante and its experience as a city that receives many tourists. Afterwards, a debate was opened to all those who wanted to participate.
Subsequently, each partner participant made a 5 minutes presentation on the local sustainability policies they develop in their cities. During the presentations, questions were also discussed and asked about these practices and how to implement them in their areas of intervention.
WORK MEETING
In the afternoon, a coordination meeting was held where the dates for the next work meetings in the different partner countries were planned and discussed. Due to the fact that some coordinators were not present, but representatives and/or volunteers, it was only possible to define the date of the next event:
WP3. THE YOUTH IMPACT OF ENVIRONMENTAL AND SOCIAL CHALLENGES in Cervia, which will be from 20 to 23 February 2023.
In this way, it was requested that at the next meeting, in Cérvia-Italy, all other partners bring proposals for the dates of the next events:
- WP4. BUILDING A RESILIENT FUTURE OF EUROPE in Godollo;
- WP5. EUROPEAN YOUTH FACING ENVIRONMENTAL AND SOCIAL CHALLENGES in Farkadona;
- WP6. THE EUROPE THAT WE WANT in NOVOMESTO;
- WP7. WE ALL ARE EUROPE in Athienou;
- WP8. FINAL MEETING: SPREAD THE WORD in Kalnik.
It was recalled that:
- informal communications will continue to be carried out by WhatsApp group to share potos/videos or exchange words in an informal way among the rest of the partners.
- that formal communications will be done through email exchanges, where partners will be informed about the following events, products or deliverables, material sent by partners (Agenda, Infopack) and any other kind of information relevant to the GREENEU proposal.
- At the end of each event, each partner must disseminate the meeting on their social networks..
The rest of the afternoon was filled with a workshop on sustainable mobility, which included a small activity outside to show some of the concerns that the city has with this theme and changes/works that we have carried out and that we have planned to carry out with this objective.
In the afternoon there was a conference with an external expert on “Sustainability and the Rivers”. The city of Amarante has three rivers, however, the largest and the one that runs through the center of the city is called the Tâmega river. Due to this geographical feature of our city, Amarante had to carry out some work on the riverbanks and on the floors to prevent mobility and flood problems. After this conference, a small trail was held, the Trail das Azenhas, where the specialist explained on site the works carried out, the materials used and the environmental and mobility benefits that we were able to achieve.
This meeting ended by thanking the presence of all partners and reminding that the next meeting will be in Cervia, Italy.
